Notes for William Lewis “Lewis” Tuttle
Lewis Tuttle married the widow Henrietta Prather Moore following the death of Abigail Willey Tuttle. Two of his sons by Abigail Willey married the two Moore girls who were brought up in the same home.

According to the Charlestown Library information, Clark County, Indiana deeds indicate the following:

16 March 1824, Enos Tuttle to Lewis Tuttle, 100 acres in Grant # 236.

Owned 80 acres in Clark Co., IN.

Back of photo of Sarah Emily lists his death year as 1885.

Lewis Tuttle married the widow Henrietta Prather Moore following the death of Abigail Willey Tuttle. Two of his sons by Abigail Willey married the two Moore girls who were brought up in the same home.

Frank Pair has the marriage date with William Lewis Tuttle, Sr. as August 1, 1855.

A suit was filed over 80 acres on Oct. 14, 1886 in Clark Co., IN in which the plaintiffs were: Dela D., Leonard H., and William L. Tuttle; Henrietta wife of William Fry; Henry A. and Henry A. and Arne S. Tuttle (minors) with guardian Mary Willis (formerly Mary Lousia Moore Tuttle); and the defendants were: Henrietta Tuttle (widow), Isaac Tutle, Theodore Tuttle, Rosella M. Tuttle (minor), Laura Belle Eaken, Mary Emma Eaken and Henry Edwin Eaken (minor). Henriette Fry was probably another daughter of Lewis and Marianne Tuttle. The Eaken’s have not been identified.1

FIRST SPOUSE - Thomas Moore was born in Kentucky around 1825. Henrietta and Thomas were married 29 Jan 1846 in Clark, Indiana, USA. They moved to Monroe County, Iowa, soon after their marriage, where they had two children: Mary Louise (Lulu) Moore and Sarah Emily (Em) Moore. When Thomas died (about 1849), Henrietta moved back to Indiana with her two daughters. Death and burial records for Thomas have not been located.
Notes for Mariamna “Abigail Mariamne” (Spouse 2)
According to family records Lewis and Mariamna had sixteen children, including two sets of twins. Only eight children are known. It should be noted that Mariamna is sometimes referred to as Abigail Marianne. She signed her name “Mariamna Tuttle” as one of Barzillai Willey’s heirs and as one of the claimants on his Revolutionary War pension payments. Her name is also spelled “Mariamna” on her tombstone.
