Jon R. Park, 76 of Eugene, passed away on July 19, 2014. A memorial service will be held on August 1, 2014 at 1:00pm at Santa Clara Church of Christ. The burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Eugene.
Jon was born on September 2, 1937 in Eugene, Oregon to Bert and Margaret (Walrath) Park. He attended Eugene High School, Oregon State University, and Pensicola Junior College where he earned his Associates Degree in Business. He received his Master's Degree from Troy State University and graduated in Germany.
On July 23, 1968 he married Delores Mae Fisher in Eugene. Jon served in the US Navy, retiring after 30 years of service as a Master Chief, Meteorologist. After he retired from the Navy, he went to work for Hamilton Electric in Eugene, then on to Clarke's Sheet Metal and finished his career with Greyhound Bus Company in their package express department. He took great pleasure in volunteering as a firefighter for Lane Rural Fire Rescue in Alvadore and as a troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America.
Jon enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping, hiking and spending time with his family and friends. He also liked to explore and discover new locations. During his service with the Navy, he enjoyed deep sea diving.
He is survived by his wife, Delores Park, of Eugene; two children, ZoAnn Reinmuth (Steve) of Eugene and Jon R. Park Jr. of Hillsboro, Oregon; a grandson, Dez Reinmuth of Eugene; four sisters, Dorothy Butenschoen (Roger) of Springfield, Oregon, Dolores Nelson (Gordon), Donna Smith (Gary) of North Bend, Oregon, and Joyce Brown (John) of Eugene.
